The 3rd Annual Atlanta Moon Ride will take place Friday night, June 19th and tours some of Atlanta’s coolest neighborhoods. An event unlike any other, this 6.5 mile joyride encourages participants to wear outlandish costumes, strap any and all things glow-in-the-dark to themselves and their bikes, and howl at the moon! 100% of proceeds go to an awesome local charity, Bert’s Big Adventure.
The official moon ride will start at 10pm and depart from the southeast corner of Piedmont Park, next to Park Tavern. Riders are encouraged to come tailgate early starting at 6pm where there will be food trucks, beer stands and live music featuring Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics. The APD department has agreed to escort the riders and block intersections for a safe, fun and family-friendly event. The ride will head through Morningside and Virginia Highland, down through Poncey Highland and Little Five Points, winding through Inman Park and Old 4th Ward, and back to Piedmont Park taking advantage of the best stretches of the Atlanta Beltline.
Tickets are $30 per person and all proceeds go to Bert’s Big Adventure, a charity that provides all-expenses-paid trips to children with terminal illnesses and their families. This is an all-ages event, and open to all skill levels of riders. Whether you have a road bike, beach cruiser or wheel chair, this is for you! If you do not have a bicycle of your own there are several rental shops that are participating in this event and can get you set up.
